The Global Media Monitoring Project (GMMP) 2025 National Report for Uganda provides a comprehensive analysis of gender representation, participation, and portrayal in the country’s news media landscape. Coordinated by the Uganda Media Women’s Association (UMWA), the report examines progress made over the years in advancing gender equality in and through the media, while also highlighting persistent gaps in women’s visibility, voice, leadership, and representation in news content. The findings contribute to ongoing advocacy efforts aimed at promoting gender-responsive media policies, balanced reporting, and increased participation of women in media decision-making processes in line with the Beijing Platform for Action Section J on Women and Media.
