Lydia Mutenga

Ms. Mutenga serves as the public eye and institutional memory of UMWA. She joined UMWA in 1997 at a time when the Secretariat was established. Ms. Mutenga has a wide experience of over 12 years in office management, secretarial duties, records and information management, web page maintenance, Internet operations and above all, she has excellent customer care service. She speaks four Ugandan languages in addition to English.

Her education includes a Diploma in secretarial studies obtained from Uganda Management Institute (UMI). She has several certificates in effective secretary at Human Resource Consulting Services LTD, certificate in office administration and management from HR & Management Agency, information technology, computer applications and web page maintenance from Uganda Management Institute (UMI) and a certificate in counselling and guidance.

At UMWA she performs a number of duties including day to day secretarial chores and any other duties from her supervisor, supervises her junior staff, maintain the Executive Director’s calendar, brief her manager on matters to be considered prior to scheduled meetings as well. Lydia Mutenga is responsible for office equipment and documents. She also makes travel arrangements for all program staff and visiting missions by air and road, and makes follow-ups on office activities where necessary.
She has the ability to meet tight deadlines, handle multiple tasks while also exhibiting high levels of discipline, maturity and integrity. She has written communication skills and establishes priority plans, coordinates and monitors work schedule. She also has knowledge about organizational and community mobilization skills.

Ms. Mutenga is able to do team work, at at the end of the day she evaluates herself.

Before joining UMWA, Mutenga worked in various places like Uganda Management Institute (UMI) in the department of School of Journalism as secretary to the Head of School, data processor at Civic Education Joint Coordination Unit (CEJOCU), secretary to the financial controller in Uganda Joint Christian Council (UJCC), and as a secretary at the Odimbe and Company Advocates in Mbale district.
