Ms Biirra Gedi Night

Ms. Biira holds a Bachelors degree in social sciences in gender and development from Makerere University. She also holds Diplomas in journalism from Uganda Management Institute and Uganda Institute of Media Studies.

Other qualifications include certificates in food and nutrition, conflict handling skills, gender sensitive radio reporting, news coverage techniques and media management, business and financial reporting, the art of public speaking, court reporting and gender consideration in the administration of justice, parliamentary reporting, special needs education and creative radio for health.

Ms. Biira currently works for Radio Uganda as reporter and producer. She also works as a child rights advocate on elimination of all forms of child labor in Uganda, and in UMWA’s Rural Outreach Program.

Ms. Biira’s research experience covers armed conflict and women, sexual and reproductive health, home and community care, and child labor. Ms. Biira has competence in developing radio drama and translation of media material from English to Lhukonzo.

Ms. Biira’s other affiliations include Rural Development Communication (RUDMEC), Uganda Broadcasters Forum (UBROF), Kasese Development Foundation (KDF) and represents UMWA as Executive Committee Member at the Uganda Women’s Network (UWONET).
